Simpson the trainer of the dogs penned various rescue scenarios and titles for this production between 1822 and 1830, including “The Red Indian; or, Selkirk and his dog”, “The Red Savage; or, Sidney and his dog”, “The Rival Indians; or, the Sailor and his Dogs”.

In this production Carlo and Lion perform various feats, including: “Carlo conveys a signal from the Shore to the Ship”, “[Carlo] dashes the cup of poison from the Treacherous Indian’s hand”, “Carlo and Lion...cross a bridge, carry a lighted torch” and there is “A GRAND COMBAT between LION and the FEROCIOUS CHIEF to save the child...”
