Original silver print photograph by Sarony of Cal in fighting pose. Of Irish descent, Cal fought two great fights with George Dixon, including a 70 round draw. He has been vastly underrated over the years. In 1888 he claimed the featherweight title against Eugene Hornbacker aged 18, becoming the first teenager to be a world title holder. He died aged only 26.having been admitted to St. Mary's Hospital where he was described as "a complete wreck"
